Asus ZenFone 6's arrival in India has been delayed by Asus and Flipkart for some time, but recent restrictions by the Delhi Supreme Court on the sale of Zen or ZenFone branded products have raised some doubts about the India phone launch. It appears that Asus has now found a solution to the ban by launching ZenFone 6 in the country under a different name. As per the media invitation sent from the Taiwanese company and the updated microsite on Flipkart, ZenFone 6 will be launched as "Asus 6z" in India on June 19. Aside from the different marketing names, the hardware specifications of the Asus 6z remain the same as the ZenFone 6.
Earlier this month, the Delhi High Court banned Asus from selling and advertising cell phones and accessories under Zen, ZenFone, or any similar brand. The court order effectively means a ban on the sale of Zen or ZenFone-branded phones, putting the much-anticipated launch of ZenFone 6 in India - which Flipkart has been denouncing as a sales partner for the past few weeks - at risk.
The updated ZenFone 6 micro site on Flipkart now reads "Asus 6z", indicating a change from the "ZenFone 6" logo accompanying an image of the flagship phone at the top of the page. The microsite website also lists a launch date of June 19, which means Asus is less than two weeks away from launching the phone in the Indian market. But as of now, there is no information on when the Asus 6z will go on sale in India, nor is there any information on pricing and launches.
As for specs and features, it remains the same on ZenFone 6. The phone packs a 6.4-inch HD (1080 x 2340 pixels) display with an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9, and is powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with up to 8GB of memory stick. Random and 256 GB of internal storage.
The Asus device has a motorized rotating camera unit, which houses a 48MP primary camera with f / 1.79 aperture accompanied by a 13MP ultra wide-angle camera. The phone comes with a large 5000 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.
