After months of leaks, a smartphone is initially suspected of the OnePlus 8 Pro, which has received certification with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China. This is according to recent reports citing hint Sudhanshu Ambhore, who discovered the device under model number IN2010.
The list does not provide much detail on what exactly users should expect from the OnePlus 8 Pro. But it does show a variety of portable bands and indicates that dual-mode 5G connectivity would be a huge advantage. This, in fact, means that it should be able to support two 5G connections simultaneously via dual SIM cards.
The supported bands listed in MIIT are likely only proportional to a China-ready variant and may not show everything about the connections. But they do list the bands n1, n41, n78 and n79.
Not everything about the newly supported OnePlus 8 Pro 5G is a mystery
Now, there have already been a number of leaks about the upcoming OnePlus 8 series of devices. Both are expected to bear a remarkable resemblance to each other, right down to the Samsung-like front and bezel panels, especially the back panel and the OnePlus' camera-style cluster.
On the OnePlus 8 Pro, the leaks indicated that there will be a camera with a small hole design on the front. The back panel showed a quad camera setup.
Little is known about pixel size or the resolution of these cameras. However, it has been leaked that the additional sensor on OnePlus 8 will be the ToF sensor. This can be used as on Samsung's Galaxy Note 10+, for AR effects. It can also be used simply to improve depth and focus capabilities.
Apart from the cameras, the OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to feature a 120Hz liquid display. This is higher than the compatible 90Hz HDR10 + board on the OnePlus 7T Pro.
The Snapdragon 865 SoC, the latest Qualcomm, is expected to power the package. This will undoubtedly be coupled with ample storage and memory, as is the tradition of OnePlus at this point.
One of the three, soon?
The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to be nearly identical to its counterparts. Most of the changes expected are in camera layouts and in both storage and RAM. The company usually launches at least two variants and there are three expectations this time.
The other two phones from the OnePlus 8 series - OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Lite, are expected to feature triple cameras on the back. This means that they will most likely lose the aforementioned ToF sensor. Otherwise, they'll likely look almost the same on the outside. All incarnations have so far shown only one color, a shiny silver tone.
Other details about the device, of course, remained scant. Leaks indicate that all three phones will be launched at the same time. If OnePlus continues its trends over the past few years, chances are there will be minor releases as well. For example, this year the company launched a McLaren version of its T-branded secondary model, the OnePlus 7T Pro.
If the company follows past trends, the minor versions will be the most powerful devices to buy. It will also be more expensive. It will also feature unique color schemes and possibly some other form of construction.
The launch is expected to take place shortly after CES 2020, between February and March. It also matches the timing of the OnePlus 8 Pro certification with MIIT.
