PayPal launches Seller Protection Program in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

PayPal announced the launch of the PayPal Seller Protection Program in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in an effort to empower local businesses to trade online, locally and globally with confidence and peace of mind. PayPal's Seller Protection program is designed to help protect merchants from buyer claims, chargebacks, and vice versa, so that they are better able to take advantage of the opportunities that e-commerce offers.

The program may provide coverage to Sellers against claims, refunds, or cancellations on eligible sales in two cases, subject to the relevant terms and conditions set out in PayPal's legal agreements:

Unauthorized Transactions - When the buyer claims that he was not authorized to pay the purchase price
Item Not Received - When the buyer claims not to have received the item or service purchased

The service is now available all over the Kingdom and seeks to empower business owners in the region as it grows and expands its e-commerce activity. The service launch comes at the perfect time, as African business owners can take advantage of the festive shopping season to sell more goods and services online, with the peace of mind that their shopping transactions are protected at all times.

“Saudi Arabia is making huge strides in technology and e-commerce, but many are still unsure of the risks associated with selling goods and services over the Internet. PayPal's Seller Protection program allows merchants to trade online with more confidence,” said Evie Dahan, General Manager for Russia and the East. Middle and Africa at Paypal.

PayPal's Seller Protection program covers both tangible and intangible items. Intangible goods include services such as flights and accommodation for travel, tickets to concerts or events, and professional services such as graphic design and photography or business consulting. The program helps protect vendors through services such as enhanced security, 24/7 monitoring, commercial fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and worldwide sales support in 25 currencies and 200 countries.

"At PayPal, when we approach shopping online, we don't just look at the point of purchase. We invest in every step of the journey." "We are pleased to be able to offer this enhanced protection - as part of our work to increase trust and confidence in e-commerce."

Seller Protection joins PayPal's other major protection services, such as Buyer Protection and Returns, which are designed to increase trust and confidence in e-commerce. Digital goods remain exempt under the Seller Protection program.
